Hole #16
This par five gives the opportunity
for players to gamble on both their drive and second shot. At 511 yards, the
hole is reachable in two shots with near perfect execution. Long hitters must
keep the ball in a 15 yard wide area left of a water hazard in the fairway.
The 2nd shot has to negotiate a tree in the fairway. The green is shallow
with bunkers awaiting the ball that does not stop quickly enough on the putting
surface. The long hitter is faced with the choice of going for it with a 2 to 4
iron shot over water and stopping it on a dime, or taking the conventional route
of laying up and hitting a short iron approach. Truly a great gambling hole for
longer hitters. |

Hole #17
Once again, position is everything on this 389 yard par four. Players must fade
the ball off of the tee to avoid going through the fairway and down into the
woods. Longer hitters can cut the corner, leaving a short iron approach, but any
shot in the left half of the fairway will be blocked by a tree in the fairway.
Grass bunkers line the right half of the fairway, giving players an awkward
stance. The green has bunkers in front and over the back. The key to this hole
is to stay down the right side of the fairway, and a good short iron approach
may yield a well-deserved birdie. |
Hole #18
A new tee box stretches this hole out to over 430 yards. The fairway is narrow
and tree lined. Mounding on the left side and trees obstructing the second shot
down the right make a center placed ball the perfect shot. The player will be
left with a mid to short iron approach over a pot bunker at the front of the
green, and a bunker over the back of the green. Approach shots that are short
may wind up in the middle of several mounds, leaving an awkward pitch. Balls
that go long will hit the down slope of the rear of the green and end up in the
trees. This long par four caps off a wonderful day and leaves players ready to
come back for more. |
