Golf Shop News
The Pinnacle Club golf shop would like to welcome 3 new employees to our staff:
Lacey Taylor, Stephanie Wilson and Christy Francis.
Please come by and introduce yourself as they are still trying to put
names with faces. The golf course is
shaping up heading into the golf season and Doug’s crew is doing a great job.
We would ask that everyone please continue to repair ball marks and sand divots.

Notes from Doug Hamman, Superintendent
Warmer temperatures have finally arrived. Warmer weather means the start of the
growing season, and with that comes the first aerification.
We will be aerifying the greens on May
5th and 6th and will be aerifying the tees and fairways on May 7th and
8th. I realize this causes major
disruption to the golf course; however, this is a necessity in order to maintain
our golf course. Please see the pro
shop to see which nine holes will be closed that day.
Also during the coming month we will be adding sand to some of the
bunkers. The plan is to go in order, so please be patient, as we will try to get
as many bunkers done.
During the next month we will be reshaping, adding new irrigation and
resodding the tee box at number 3. There will be a period of time when this tee
box will be closed. I will be moving all tee markers to the front on number 3
fairway, so that the tee box will be able to grow in. Last month many of you saw
that we installed new irrigation control boxes.
This is going to help tremendously on how we water the golf course.
I am looking forward to the coming months as we try to provide you with
the best golf course possible. I hope everybody has a good golfing month, and
look forward to seeing you on the course.

Rule of the Month:
The player may deem his ball unplayable at any place on the course, except
when the ball is in a water hazard. The player is the sole judge as to whether
his ball is unplayable. If the player deems his ball to be unplayable,
he must, under penalty of one stoke: Play a ball as nearly as possible at the spot
from which the original ball was last played; or Drop a ball behind the point
where the ball lay, keeping that point directly between the hole and the spot on
which the ball is dropped, with no limit to how far behind that point the ball
may be dropped; or Drop a ball within two club-lengths of the spot where the
ball lay, but not nearer the hole. If the unplayable ball is in a bunker, the
player may proceed under Clause a, b, or c. If he elects to proceed under Clause
b or c, a ball must be dropped in the bunker. When proceeding under this Rule,
the player may lift and clean his ball or substitute a ball.
PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE:Match play - Loss of hole; Stroke play - Two strokes.

2008 Ryder Cup Winners
What a great turnout we had for the
annual Pinnacle Golf Association Ryder Cup Tournament.
We had 56 players for the event with 8 ladies.
The weather for the 2 day event was incredible and so was the

team USA was in the lead by 3 points. Halfway
through the second day of competition things were beginning to tighten up as the
teams were dead even for the event. In
the end, team USA was standing proud as they won the event with a score of:
TEXAS 19
USA 23.
The following is a list of players for team USA:
Steve Piro, Matt Burleson, Ryan Hamilton, Gary Wideman, Jim Trowbridge, Mike
Sugrue, Mickey Neathery, Mike Dehn, Bobby Walker, Bob Noblitt, George Mueller,
Wayne Helberg, Wendell Smartt, Charlie Kairalla, Les Melcher, Ed DeLoach, Bruce
Walter, Preston Green, Acie Mitchell, David Pinkus, Bruce Doerrfeld, Chuck
Peterson, John Magee, Kevin Thompsen, Susie Johnson, Joyce Helberg, Jean
McSpadden and Bobbie Schillo.

REEL STORIES By Ed DeLoach
Over the past month the weather has been somewhat better.
Between fronts and winds, there have been a number of fishermen out on
the lake. The water level is still
very good, but the lake has been anywhere from murky to downright muddy due to
the runoff from some of the heavy rain in areas where construction activity is
going on at the water’s edge. As of the 9:30pm report on April 24, the lake
level was 322.02 feet. (Normal =
322.00 feet) with water surface temperature is running around 58 degrees.
These conditions should make for good fishing when the weather permits.
Fishing for the neighborhood team has been pretty good over the past
month with 289 fish caught during six outings by Dennis Christian and the
writer. The catch consisted of 255
White Bass, 13 Yellow Bass, 11 Hybrids (up to 24 “), 1 Catfish, 1 Blue Gill,
and 8 Crappie. The largest fish of
the month, a 37 pound Flat Head catfish, was caught by Dennis after a 20 minute
“battle”. The most fish caught in one
outing was 103 fish caught by the writer. All
of the fish except the Crappie were caught on the ol’ dependable Mepps
Spinner. The Crappie were caught by
Dennis using jigs.
Thought of the month:
“Fishing is timeless and ageless, and it’s a family tradition that
should be passed on to future generations.”
(Virginia Pierce)
